Navigating Finals Week: A Second Glance at Strategies for Success

As the anticipation of finals week looms over Northside College Prep, Northsiders find themselves once again preparing for exams. In this second look at finals at Northside, we will delve into effective strategies and student experience to ensure a smoother finals week experience.

One: Before diving into finals week, note that engaging in preparation is crucial. Communication with teachers is a key component. Discussing areas of difficulty and struggle with instructors allows for guidance, helping students address specific challenges within the course material.

Two: Commencing study sessions a week to two in advance is another effective strategy. Avoiding last-minute cramming alleviates stress. Prioritizing subjects that pose the greatest challenge can significantly impact overall performance.

Three: Adopting strategic approaches during testing is essential once the week of exams arrives. Working at a steady pace based on the time ensures a thorough and thoughtful examination. Regularly checking progress throughout the testing period allows for adjustments, ensuring that you stay on track.

Finals week for Northside students this year occurs before the CPS Winter Break starts, in comparison to last year, which occurred after the break. One student expressed his feelings toward this change and claimed that he is relieved that finals are before Winter break this year compared to the previous year, “I like that because over break, I don’t have to worry about anything.”
