What is Louis Tomlinson’s birth name?
English singer-songwriter Louis Tomlinson was born Louis Troy Austin on December 24, 1991. Tomlinson, who was born and raised in Doncaster, England, auditioned for a British singing competition. The British-Irish band One Direction was formed by him and four other rejected solo contestants from The X Factor in 2010.
Tomlinson’s composition and lyrics have received recognition. With songwriting credits on songs from the albums Midnight Memories, Four, and Made in the A.M., as well as on a total of thirty eight songs throughout the band’s record, he has the most writing credits of any member of One Direction. Tomlinson is recognized by Savan Kotecha, a prominent American record producer and songwriter, for “leading the charge” in One Direction’s transition to a more sophisticated sound.
Since then, Louis has launched a prosperous solo career, putting out his first solo album, Walls, in January 2020 and his second, Faith In The Future, in November 2022. The artist announced a tour and released the albums Lemonade and Imposter and How Did I Get Here? in September 2025 and January 2026, respectively.
Tomlinson formally introduced his streetwear-inspired unisex brand named “28” on August 28, 2023. Since he was a young child, he has been interested in fashion and considered starting a business for more than ten years. Given that Tomlinson is from Yorkshire, the White Rose of York is included in the branding.

Throughout his career, Tomlinson has participated in charitable endeavors. With bandmate Liam Payne, he co-hosted a charity ball organized by Believe in Magic, a group that supports children with terminal illnesses. Tomlinson’s inclusion in the Soccer Aid 2016 star line-up, a biannual fundraiser for the children’s organization United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), was revealed in April 2016. For a charity livestream in 2020, Tomlinson sold 160,000 tickets and donated the proceeds to Crew Nation, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, FareShare, and his touring crew. Tomlinson took part in Soccer Aid in 2025.
