This is a developing story…
With November 14 around the corner, there is still some confusion among the Northside student body surrounding the shift in the district’s policy for AP testing registration and fees. The information below, provided by Principal Stuber, updates the school’s policy for registration and testing fees.
Fee Policy
Last week, the district sent out a letter regarding the upcoming AP exam fees. We wanted to follow up by explaining what this would mean for our NCP families. Since the district has updated the fee policy, the following fees will be applied to accounts after the ordering deadline of November 14.
Our fees differ slightly from those in the District letter because we rent outside space to administer AP testing and because the College Board Exam fee is higher than $90.
From Dr. Stuber: As a reminder, AP exams will be administered on the following dates: May 4–8, 2026, and May 11–15, 2026. We will apply the fees after the AP test ordering deadline on Nov. 14,
2025 and will adjust fees based on the district’s messaging regarding fee waivers in
December. We will also send a fee status and account balance letter to all families in
December.
In other words, payment will not be due until Northside has sent email confirmation of the fee status.
Test Registration
For most students this was completed at the start of the school year when you registered for the AP Classroom website in your classes. That classroom registration automatically registered you for the AP exam.
For those students who might have a different situation, the following holds true: In order to register for an AP exam, students must set up a College Board account and enter a join code from their teacher for that specific AP classroom and class section. Again, if you are currently using AP Classroom for your classes, you should already be registered for the exam.
Once the join code has been entered, the test is automatically ordered for that student. (Fees will be applied later in the school year.)
Students MAY NOT register for AP exams for classes they are not enrolled in.
The deadline for ordering exams is November 14th. Students registering after this date will incur a $45 late fee.
If you miss the deadline and want to order an exam, reach out to Ms. Garcia via email at ggarcia318@cps.edu or via Google Chat.
Test Cancellation
Students can cancel registration for an AP exam by reaching out to Ms. Garcia. Students must cancel their AP exams BY NOVEMBER 14. Any student who cancels an exam after the November 14 deadline will incur a cancellation fee of $45.
Testing Schedule
The AP exam schedule is listed below. All students should familiarize themselves with their schedule and make sure there are no timing conflicts. If there are any conflicts (e.g. sports or senior events), students should reach out to Ms. Garcia to schedule makeup dates.
