Northside welcomes Ms. Maria Ortiz to her new role as case manager. Ms. Ortiz was previously a cluster teacher for six years. She says that during this time, “ I discovered how much I enjoy working with families and advocating for their needs.” This passion led her to transition from teaching into case management, a role that involves working closely with the families of students and building relationships with them.
Some values that drive her are hard work, grit, perseverance, empathy, and commitment to supporting others. During her time at Northside so far, she has found that the students here also hold some valuable skills. She has observed that “the students here are so independent, self-starting, and able to advocate for themselves.”
Ms. Ortiz’s favorite memory from her own high school experience was being in her school’s competitive marching band. It gave her the opportunity to travel across the Midwest and to meet new people, which she describes as “a fun and rewarding experience.”
Welcome to Northside, Ms. Ortiz!
