This year, Northside’s Physical Education department welcomes a new member to the team, Mr. Joshua Gleicher. 

Mr. Gleicher has kicked off his career at Northside not only teaching PE classes, but as a coach for the golf team, with an impressive 4-0 record so far! 

Before coming to Northside, he taught PE for 13 years at the high school level, but started off as an Elementary School PE teacher. 

Mr. Gleicher went on to receive a degree in Physical Education from DePaul University and a masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. In 2021, he achieved the National Board Certification in PE.

His desire to become an educator came, in part, from his own high school education. 

“I had three teachers in my Junior year that were incredible in their own ways and helped me realize how powerful an educator could be.”

Outside of school, Mr.Gleicher is a big Sox and Bulls fan. However, he believes that the Northside golf team might just have to be his favorite Chicago sports team, since most Chicago sports teams have been performing pretty poorly this year! 

His favorite food is pineapple pizza!

So far, Mr. Gleicher has greatly enjoyed his first few weeks at Northside. His favorite thing about the community is how welcoming everyone is. He’s excited to see what the school year has to hold!
