This year, Northside College Prep welcomes a new teacher to the Science department: Ms. Foster.
From a young age, Ms. Foster has been passionate about the environment and the natural world, which is largely what led to her interest in the field of biology. Besides the subject matter of biology, however, what truly drives Ms. Foster is the opportunity that science provides for the world’s questions to be answered.
“I love to ask the question, why? Why do dogs lift their legs when they urinate? Why do we have fingernails? Why do elephants have toenails? Science gave me a way to answer those questions.”
Genuine curiosity is not only what drives Ms. Foster, but what she hopes will drive all her students. “My favorite part about being a science teacher is getting students to question their assumptions about the world and ask the question of why?”
So far, Ms. Foster has found that Northside will be just the place to foster this curious and engaged community. “I love that my students choose to talk to me during their free time in class and share their science ideas or just generally what they are excited about in life.”
For this reason, Ms. Foster is thrilled to join the Northside community this year. Besides, as she has been riding horses since she was eight, having a Mustang for a school mascot is certainly an added bonus.
