Northside’s BSU (Black Student Union) Showcase has been part of Northside for more than 15 years and involves a great deal of work from the students and faculty involved.

Sabona Abdi (Senior), the president of BSU, described the organization as “a community where people very similar to me, and I was able to connect with them more than just a shared interest.” He emphasized the value of belonging to a group that deeply understands your experiences, rather than simply recognizing them.
Mazen Ibrahim (Senior), the BSU vice president, explained that planning the showcase involves regular board meetings to coordinate rehearsals with performers like the Music and the Poet.
Northside’s BSU welcomes all students. There are no prerequisites for involvement, and those curious about the group are encouraged to attend, even if to observe.
