The Northside Women’s basketball season officially began November 20 with the Ridgewood Thanksgiving tournament. This is an annual tournament which both the Men’s and Women’s teams compete in. This season will mark the 4th consecutive year the Women’s basketball team participated in this event.
The Women’s basketball team played games in this tournament on the following days:
November 20 vs Walther Christian Academy (W 65-24)
November 21 vs Ridgewood (W 60-49)
November 23 vs Parker (W 52-17)
November 27 vs Leyden (L 37-54)
This tournament is special to the Mustangs, as every year alums come back to watch the games. It’s an amazing opportunity for them to reconnect with not only their former teammates, but friends from previous years.
This tournament was a nice warm up for the Mustangs as they are preparing for conference play. The Mustangs defeated Hyde Park on December 4, starting them off with a 1-0 conference record. They will look to make a statement in the Red North/West conference this year, as they placed 8th last season.
We managed to get an interview with Varsity captain Kelsey Broderick (senior) before the tournament started.
