Who can vote?
Requirements for voting:
- Be a U.S citizen
- Be born on or before November 5, 2006
- Live in your precinct at least 30 days before the election
- Don’t claim the right to vote somewhere else
- Do not be in prison
How to register to vote:
In most cases, you will need either a state driver’s license or a state ID to register.
- Register through college board
- Register online using this website
- You will need:
1) the full Illinois driver’s license or State identification number;
2) the last 4 digits of your social security number; and
3) the date the Illinois driver’s license or State identification card was issued.
- Register in person
- You will need two forms of identification with at least one showing your current residential address
- Register by mail using this website
- You must send the completed application to the county clerk or board of election commissioners with jurisdiction over your voter registration. Your Jurisdiction should be the city of Chicago.
- You will need to submit either:
- State drivers license
- State Identification card number
- The last 4 digits of your social security number, a copy of a current and valid photo identification
- A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows your name and address
- An identification card issued by a college or university accompanied by either a copy of the applicant’s contract or lease for a residence or any postmarked mail delivered to the applicant at their current residence address

- Find your nearest polling place by entering your address and zip code into this website
- The polls will be open from 6 am to 7 pm
