This week, we shine a spotlight on Mr. Laurich, an enthusiastic member of our biology teaching team here at Northside. With a passion for science that ignites curiosity in his students, he’s made a remarkable impact since joining our school.
Mr. Laurich’s favorite animal, the African elephant, reflects his deep appreciation for empathy and intelligence in the natural world. “They can recognize themselves and show empathy for other animals, including humans,” he shares. This admiration for the intricate connections in nature parallels his teaching philosophy, where understanding and compassion play crucial roles.
Mr. Laurich thrives on sharing his love for science, stating, “I get to share and talk about science and scientific discoveries each and every day!” His enthusiasm is contagious, inspiring students to delve deeper into the wonders of biology.
Having recently transitioned to Northside, Mr. Laurich has found joy in our unique block schedule. “It was new for me, but it’s been the biggest change that I’ve enjoyed so far,” he explains. This flexible structure allows him to engage with students more meaningfully and fosters an environment where learning flourishes.
Not just a scientist, Mr. Laurich has a playful side, too! Last Halloween, he dressed up as a character from the film Oppenheimer, showcasing his creative flair beyond the classroom.
