Girls’ Flag Football
On September 26, the Mustangs’ Girls Flag Football team held their Senior Night at Northside’s new turf field. They took on the Payton Grizzlies, and after going down 16 points to start the game, they came back and took the victory 42-16. The theme for the night was Paw Patrol, and each Senior had their name on the Senior Night shirt and received a gift basket.
This experience gave the team the confidence boost they needed going into the playoffs. On September 28, they defeated Dunbar 20-0 in their first playoff game. On the same day, they played Perspectives Leadership in the second round but were defeated 0-38.
In their second and final playoff bracket, the Mustangs defeated Maine East 34-6 on 7 October. The following day, their season ended with a 43-0 loss to Prospect.
Northside’s second season of Flag Football saw significant improvement from last year. As the team gains chemistry and experience, it is sure to continue improving in the coming seasons.
We were fortunate enough to get an interview with Leah Hine (Junior), a Mustang on the team.
