Northside’s 2024 Homecoming is almost here!
Preparations are underway, and Student Council is working tirelessly to create the perfect Disco-themed night!
For many students, Homecoming is one of the most exciting events of the school year: a chance to get dressed up, bond with friends, and celebrate away from the academic pressures of the school year.
For underclassmen, Homecoming can offer the perfect introduction to Northside’s spirit and social life. But what should new students expect from Homecoming night?
In order to make the most of Homecoming, Veronica Motawi (Junior) suggests the following: “Find a place for your phone, avoid bringing big bags, and in general just make good decisions.”
Student Council president Ami Desai (Senior) spoke on behalf of those organizing the dance, saying they are “hoping to make the gym look and feel straight out of the 70s.” Student Council plans to achieve this aesthetic with “disco decor (like a disco ball) and a color scheme of maroon, oranges, dark yellow, and browns.”
President Ami Desai said, “You should expect to have a good time with your friends” at homecoming. She advises everyone, especially freshmen, to go to the dance!
Nina Pickus (Senior) and Katie O’Brien (Senior) advise the freshmen to shake off any stress surrounding the dance, encouraging underclassmen to “just have fun” and “wear what makes you feel good.” As Nina adds, “It’s not that deep.”
Vincent Siefring (Senior) emphasizes the importance of attending, saying, “even if you don’t want to go, go to experience it and make connections.”
Overall, there seems to be a consensus that Homecoming is an important part of the Northside experience, especially for freshmen. So, to any underclassmen reading, buy your tickets and be ready to have a great night!
