Study Tables allow students to meet with teachers and receive extra class support.
Impact of Study Tables
Study tables are a great resource for improving academic performance. Students who are struggling can receive extra help with classwork, ask questions, and makeup work.
Sabona Abdi (Senior) said, “I think it was really helpful for me to understand the concepts because I didn’t really get it in class the first time. It really helped me to go and talk with teachers to give that second chance of understanding things I didn’t understand the first time.”
Mr. Milbert (Social Science) reiterates that Study Tables can help students feel more prepared for tests.
Accessing Study Tables
Northside publishes the schedule for Study Tables on its website and includes posters throughout the building. Arbind Bapu (Freshman) knew where to go for World Studies help by checking the syllabus. He said the Study Tables worked well with his schedule because “they are just after school.”
Teacher Insight
“My tables tend to have students working in small groups, with me circulating around and answering questions or checking in on those groups. Sometimes, I may be working with one small group more intensely, and other students come to me when they have questions on their own work.” (Ms. Deming Science)
Study Tables are also beneficial for the teachers because they allow them to connect with students one-on-one.
Study Tables are a valuable resource that provides students with additional assistance with their academic work.
